Privacy policy
How we take care of your data.
The waitlist needs very little from you. This page explains what we keep, why, and how you can change your mind.
In short
- We only ask for your email, and we send you a code to confirm it's yours. Telling us what you like to follow is optional.
- We use this data to send the beta invite, updates about it, and to understand what people want to follow.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use tracking cookies.
- You can leave the list and ask us to delete your data whenever you want by writing to [email protected].
1.Who is responsible
Dailymark News is run by the project team, which decides how the data described on this page is handled. Under Brazil's data protection law (the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, or LGPD, Law No. 13,709/2018), that makes us the controller.
For anything about your data, write to [email protected]. This is our contact address for people on the list.
2.What data we collect
- EmailRequired to join the list.
- What you like to followOptional. We only keep it if you answer the question after signing up.
- Bot checkWhen you fill in your email, the check looks at technical signals from your browser to confirm that a person is signing up. We don't keep the result or your IP address.
- Technical access logsFor security, the hosting service records data such as IP address, date, time and browser. We don't use these logs to find out who visited the page.
We don't ask for your name, phone number, location or any sensitive data. The waitlist is for people 18 or older.
3.What we use it for
- Confirming that the email you gave is yours, with a one-time code.
- Sending the invite when the beta opens.
- Sending updates about the beta: the start date and important changes.
- Understanding, by adding up the answers, which topics people care about most, so we can decide what to build first.
We don't use your data for ads, we don't sell it, and we don't pass it to anyone for marketing. We also don't make automated decisions about you or build profiles from your email.
4.Our legal basis
Your email and your answer about what you like to follow are handled based on your consent (art. 7, I, of the LGPD), which you give when you join the list. You can withdraw it whenever you want, without giving a reason.
Technical access logs are kept based on legitimate interest (art. 7, IX), only to protect the page from abuse and failures.
5.Who we share it with
Only with the services that make the page work. They handle the data on our behalf and follow our instructions:
- Hosting, signup and bot checkA hosting and infrastructure service we contract, which hosts the page, stores the list, and checks that a person is signing up.
- Sending emailsAn email-sending service we contract, which receives only your email and the confirmation code in order to send the list's messages.
These services may store and process data on servers outside Brazil, such as in the United States. When that happens, the transfer follows the LGPD rules for international transfers (art. 33).
We may also have to provide data if a law or a court order requires it.
6.How long we keep it
For as long as the waitlist exists. If you leave the list or ask us to delete your data, we delete your email and your answer as soon as possible.
Signups where the email wasn't confirmed with the code are deleted and don't join the list.
When the beta ends, the data of people who don't go on to use Dailymark is deleted. Technical access logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider.
7.Your rights
The LGPD (art. 18) gives you, among other rights:
- To know whether we handle your data and to access it.
- To correct incomplete or wrong data.
- To ask for your data to be deleted.
- To know who we share your data with.
- To withdraw your consent at any time.
- To take your data to another service (portability).
To use any of them, write to [email protected].
9.Security
We keep as little data as possible and protect what we keep:
- The page uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
- Only the project team has access to the list.
- We use the bot check to prevent abuse of the signup.
The security of your data matters to us. We take reasonable measures to protect it, but no online service is completely secure. That's why we can't guarantee absolute security.
10.Changes to this policy
This policy covers only the waitlist. When the beta opens, Dailymark will handle other data, such as your brief and what you read, and this page will be updated before that.
If we change something important, we'll tell you by email before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the last update.
11.Contact
Write to this address with questions, to use your rights, or to leave the list.
